I use machine learning to research how cells regulate gene expression.

Billions of ACGTs write the code of the human genome. We still cannot completely read it, but with the convergence of big biological data, machine learning advances, and accessible genome editing, I wouldn't bet on this mystery lasting much longer.

The piece of the puzzle that I'm focusing on right now is synthesizing the information in vast regions of DNA to understand how cells regulate gene expression.

I'm currently a principal investigator at Calico Labs, where my group explores the hypothesis that a better understanding of gene regulation will help unravel the complex biology of aging.
